Shillong, May 2: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Saturday, informed that several commercial activities including, in-site construction, opening of hardware & electrical stores, wine shops and more will be permitted from May 4th.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, on Friday extended the nationwide lockdown for 2 weeks beyond May 3rd but with considerable relaxations in districts under Green and Orange Zones.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that Curfew will be lifted in Shillong Agglomeration, but night curfew (7 pm to 7am) will remain. Assembly of 5 or more persons will be prohibited.
He informed that construction work, where workers are available on site and no workers are required from outside the state, will be permitted in all urban areas including Shillong Agglomeration.
All hardware and electrical stores have been allowed to open in all regions including Shillong Agglomeration from May 4th.
“Opening of hardware stores, electrical stores and construction and quarrying activities, previously excluded in Mylliem block will now be allowed,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that May 4th onwards, government offices will function with 33% capacity for Staff (Group C and D) and 100 percent for Officers (Group A and B). “Rosters will be notified and dos and don’ts will be issued accordingly,” he said.
He also informed that wine shops will be open from May 4th across the state.
On Friday, Tynsong had informed that the government has allowed mining activities and public transportation in respective districts, except Shillong Agglomeration.
