Shillong, Jun 12: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded 13 more Covid-19 deaths even as the number of recoveries surpassed the new infections.
According to the Health department, of the 13 new fatalities, East Khasi Hills recorded 10, South West Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills recorded one death each.
The state also recorded 501 new infections and 610 recovered from the virus.
With the latest figures, the state’s deaths due to virus has mounted to 727, there are 4871 active cases and a total of 36003 persons have so far recovered.
The district wise distribution of the new cases are – East Khasi Hills 158, West Garo Hills 102, Ri-Bhoi 80, West Jaintia Hills 60, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills 21 each, South West Garo Hills 16, East Jaintia Hills 15, South Garo Hills 14, West Khasi Hills 10 and South West Khasi Hills four.
Of the 4871 active cases, East Khasi Hills has 1790, West Garo Hills 784, West Jaintia Hills 627, Ri-Bhoi 369, South West Khasi Hills 260, South West Garo Hills 240, North Garo Hills 227, East Garo Hills 189, West Khasi Hills 160, South Garo Hills 113 and East Jaintia Hills 112.
