Shillong, Apr 12: Meghalaya on Monday recorded 26 more COVID-19 cases and 23 recovered from the virus, health authorities informed.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the total active cases are 193 and so far a total of 13956 persons have recovered from the virus.
Dr. War said that of the 26 new cases – seven were recorded in East Khasi Hills district and 19 in West Jaintia Hills district.
The Director of Health Services informed that of the 23 recovered cases 21 are from East Khasi Hills district and two in West Khasi Hills district.
East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 144 active cases (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces 18 and others 126), West Jaintia Hills 24, Ri-Bhoi 14, West Garo Hills – six (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces – two, others – four), East Jaintia Hills – four and South West Khasi Hills – one.
Dr. War also said that the total persons tested till date is 4,22,738 out of which 4,08,438 were negative and 14300 are confirmed cases.
The Director of Health Services informed that the so far is 1,46,680 persons have been administered the Covishield vaccine out of which 40,379 have received their second dose.
Dr. War informed that the breakup of category-wise of persons who have received the vaccine are – health care workers 22,582 (first dose) 15,872 (second dose), frontline workers 33259 (first dose), 20983 (second dose), general public vaccinated 50460 (first dose) and 3524 (second dose).
Meanwhile, in view of the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases the East Khasi Hills district administration has imposed night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am daily.
The district magistrate has also directed all shops, establishments, restaurants and bars to shut down by 9 pm, or as per timing issued vide existing order, whichever is earlier.
