Shillong, May 11: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded nine fresh COVID-19 deaths and 450 new infections, health authorities informed.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the nine new fatalities, East Khasi Hills district recorded six, West Jaintia Hills district two and Ri-Bhoi district one.
With this the total number of deaths since the pandemic started has gone up to 242, the active cases count has reached 3297.
Dr. War informed that of the 450 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 312, West Garo Hills 45, Ri-Bhoi district 27, East Jaintia Hills district 20, West Jaintia Hills 18, South West Garo Hills 15, West Khasi Hills six, East Garo Hills five and North Garo Hills two.
Of the 3297 new cases, East Khasi Hills district has 1907, Ri-Bhoi 458, West Garo Hills 280, East Jaintia Hills 144, West Khasi Hills 132, West Jaintia Hills 130, South West Garo Hills 96, South Garo Hills 55, East Garo Hills 44, North Garo Hills 36 and South West Khasi Hills 15.
The state also recorded 206 new recoveries taking the total number to 17040.
The total number of persons tested till date for the virus is 4,90,677 out of which 4,70,098 tested negative and 20579 are confirmed cases.
Dr. War informed that till date there are 729 COVID-19 patients under institutional quarantine, 2568 are under home quarantine/isolation.
The Director of Health Services also informed that there are 111 micro containment zones and the case fatality rate is 1.18 percent.
