Meghalaya records 9 new COVID-19 cases

Shillong, Mar 31: Meghalaya recorded nine fresh COVID-19 cases and five recovered from the virus on Wednesday, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the fresh cases – East Khasi Hills recorded six (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force- two, others- four), Ri-Bhoi district – two and West Garo Hills – one.

All the five recoveries were recorded in East Khasi Hills district.

According to Dr. War, the total active cases in the state has risen to 49, with West Garo Hills district having the highest number of active cases with 22, East Khasi Hills
21 and Ri-Bhoi district – six.

The total number of recovered cases stands at 13866.

The Director of Health Services informed that the total persons tested till date is 4,03,861 of which 3,89,796 samples were negative.

The number of confirmed cases is 14065, and the total fatalities are 150.

The vaccination achievement for health care workers till March 31 afternoon for the first dose is 22,289
and 14,859 for the second dose. Also a total of 32,418 frontline workers have received the first dose out of which 17,532 have received their second dose.

Meanwhile, the vaccination achievement for general public based on the
eligible age group, till Wednesday afternoon is 27,147 for the first dose.
