Meghalaya records highest single day surge with 423 cases

SHILLONG, Oct 3: Meghalaya on Saturday witnessed the highest single day surge of COVID-19 cases with 423. With this the total number of active of cases stands at 2083.

East Khasi Hills recorded the highest number of cases with 339 (armed/paramilitary forces two and others 337), Ri- Bhoi 30, West Garo Hills 19 (armed forces/paramilitary forces- one, others 18), East Jaintia Hills 11, South West Khasi Hills 10, West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills six each and East Garo Hills two.

The State also saw 93 new recoveries with East Jaintia Hills recorded the most with 76, Ri-Bhoi five, West Garo Hills four, North Garo Hills three, South West Khasi hills two, West Jaintia Hills one, South West Garo Hills one and East Khasi Hills one. The total recovered case now stands at 4319.

  1. Day is not far when 1000 cases per day will be reported in meghalaya. Government hv to tk measures to minimize the spread of virus. Only allowing vehicular movements on ODD-EVEN basis will not do the job. We as a citizen hv to more careful n responsible.

With the number of positive cases surging with each passing days,I think that the stakeholders should take cognizance of the present situation to curtail the movement of the rank and file and do not take impulsive decisions regarding opening of Educational Institutions, which are more vulnerable.
