Meghalaya records one COVID-19 case and 23 recovers

Shillong, Feb 17: The state on Wednesday recorded one new COVID-19 cases and 23 recovered from the virus, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the lone new case was recorded in West Khasi Hills and all the 23 recovered cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills district.

With the latest figures, the active cases have come down to 78 and the total recoveries stand at 13719.

East Khasi Hills which is the most affected district has 55 active cases, while all the five districts of Garo Hills region are currently free from COVID-19.

Dr. War informed that the total persons tested for the virus till date is 3, 56, 663 out of which 3, 42, 718 persons tested negative. The State till Wednesday afternoon has recorded 13, 945 confirmed cases.

The number of persons who have entered Meghalaya since restrictions on travelling was eased is 91, 658.

He informed that the total number of health care workers of the state vaccinated till Wednesday is 14, 101 with the first dose and 748 with the second dose.

The Director of Health Services also informed the total number of frontline workers vaccinated till date is 6143 with the first dose.
