Shillong, Dec 30: The State on Wednesday recorded one new COVID-19 death, 21 new cases and 19 recovered from the virus.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the lone death recorded on Wednesday is from East Khasi Hills taking the number of fatalities in the state to 139.
Dr. War informed that the deceased has been identified as Anita Blah (74) of Nongshilliang, Malki, Shillong, East Khasi Hills.
The deceased was admitted in Woodland Hospital on December 24 and tested positive. She expired on December 29 at 8:50 am.
The Director of Health Services informed that as per diagnosis she died of Carcinoma Lung with COVID-19.
Dr. War informed that the state has 184 active cases and a total of 13085 persons have recovered from the virus till date.
Of the new cases – 16 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, three in West Garo Hills, one each in South West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
Of the 19 recovered cases 10 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, four in Ri-Bhoi, three in West Garo Hills and one each in North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.
East Khasi Hills remains the most affected with 135 active cases – 11 armed and paramilitary forces, 124 others.
The total number of persons tested for COVID-19 till date are 2, 91, 959 out of which 2, 78, 551 have tested negative. The number of entrants from outside the state into Meghalaya till Wednesday afternoon is 77, 648.
Dr. War informed that the state till date has recorded 13408 confirmed COVID-19 cases out of which 13085 have recovered and 184 are active cases and 139 fatalities. The Director of Health Services informed that the state’s case fatality rate is 1.04 percent.
