Meghalaya records one more COVID related death, toll rises to 150

Shillong, Mar 25: Meghalaya on Thursday reported another COVID-19 related death taking the number of fatalities to 150.

Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr. Aman War informed that the death occurred on March 24 and was reported from Civil Hospital Shillong, East Khasi Hills.

The victim, Desking Rangslang (41) of Mawdiangdiang was admitted to the hospital on March 23 with complaints of fever and shortness of breath. He had a history of bilateral lower limbs with redness and was under treatment by a quack for two months.

“On admission Rapid Antigen Test was negative. Truenat was done and on March 23 and was positive and he died at around 7:30 pm on March 24,” Dr. War said.

Meanwhile, on Thursday the State recorded three new cases and one recovered from the virus.

The Director of Health Services informed that the active cases in the State is 23 and the total recovered cases are 13849.

East Khasi Hills has 19 active cases and Ri-Bhoi four.

Moreover, vaccination achievement for health care workers till Thursday afternoon is 21,550 for the first dose, and 13,902 for the second dose.

Also a total of 31,297 frontline workers had got their first dose of vaccination and 14,045 have received their second dose.

The vaccination achievement for the general public based on the eligible age group till date is 21,559 for the first dose.
