Meghalaya records two more COVID-19 deaths

Shillong, Jan 5: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded two more COVID-19 deaths taking the number of fatalities to 141, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War, informed that the two deaths recorded on Tuesday were in East Khasi Hills districts.

Dr. War informed that one Komal Das (59) of Rilbong, Shillong was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on January 2 and tested positive. He expired on January 3 at 4:25 pm.

As per diagnosis he had COVID-19 pneumonia with hypertension with nephropathy.

The second death recorded on Tuesday was that of  Pandav Kuri (49) of Mawbah, Shillong.

He was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital on December 23 and referred from Nazareth Hospital.

He expired on January 3 at 11.50 PM.

As per diagnosis he had type 2 diabetes mellitus with pulmonary TB with post COVID-19 pneumonia with sepsis.

Meanwhile, the state recorded 25 new cases and 12 persons recovered from the virus. 

With this the number of active cases has gone upto 149 and the total recovered cases stands at 13216.

Of the 25 new cases – East Khasi Hills recorded 24 cases and South Garo Hills one. 

Dr. War informed that one case from West Jaintia Hills migrated to Dehradun. 

Of the 12 recovered cases – East Khasi Hills recorded five, Ri-Bhoi one and West Garo Hills six (armed/paramilitary forces – four and others two). 

The number of persons tested for COVID-19 till date in the state are 3, 00, 372 out of which 2, 86, 866 samples yielded negative results. 

The number of entrants from outside Meghalaya till date is 79, 788.
