SHILLONG, May 29: Police on Tuesday afternoon recovered the body of a woman from a spot in the outskirts of the city along the Guwahati-Shillong road.
According to police, the body was pulled out from a downhill cliff along the National Highway-40 after crossing Ryndangbriew viewpoint.
The body was retrieved by the Search and Rescue team of the Meghalaya Fire Service.
“The girl is 28 years old and the body was claimed by the family members. She is a Naga,” police said.
The girl who was working as a nurse in a city hospital, was missing since May 26.
Police said that on the day she went missing she came back home in the afternoon after finishing her duty but again left the house and subsequently went missing.
The family members have filed an FIR at the Mawlai police station.
The police traced her location through the IMEI number of her mobile phone.
Police sources also added that a team would be dispatched tomorrow at the site to gather further evidence in this regard. The police has registered a murder case under Section 302 of IPC.
