MPCC holds silent protest to condemn Hathras Rape case

Shillong, Oct 7: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee today observed a “Silent Satya” to protest against the brutal rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit girl at Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.

Condemning the rape and murder, MPCC Working President James S. Lyngdoh accused the District Administration of ‘denying justice to the victim by hurriedly cremating her body without mandatory medical examination to destroy all evidence.’

He also condemned the actions of the District Magistrate of Hathras for ‘threatening the family of the victim in broad daylight to not press for an investigation.’

Lyngdoh said that the Uttar Pradesh Government under Yogi Adityanath, physically assaulted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra while on their way to express sympathy and solidarity.

Former MLA E.C.B. Bamon, EKH DCC President Kennedy C Khyriem, MPYC President Richard M. Marak, party functionaries, district and block presidents, and Frontal organisations were also present at the meet.
