SHILLONG, Jun 25: Former Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma has been asked to vacate the official residence, Good Wood bungalow, which he held when he was in office and has been allotted Sherwood Bungalow, the official residence formerly occupied by veteran legislator, Dr DD Lapang.
Recently, the General Administration Department, allotted the Sherwood Bungalow to Dr Sangma after, Dr Lapang vacated his official residence on June 19.
“Kindly make necessary arrangement to take over and occupy the said bungalow at the earliest,” the General Administartion Department said in the allotment letter.
As per rule, two months’ time is given for vacating the official bungalows.
It may be mentioned that the Good Wood Bungalow, an official residence of the state’s chief minister located at Polo had cost the state exchequer over Rs 10 crore.
A General Administration Department (GAD) official said that since the Chief Minister is currently staying at his own house, there was a need that he should stay in an official bungalow.
