SHILLONG, Oct.: Deputy chief minister, and National People’s Party (NPP) leader Prestone Tynsong on Monday said that opposition leader Dr Mukul Sangma was not able to bring the HNLC to surrender when he was Chief Minister and therefore is jealous of the present government.
It may be mentioned that recently, Dr Sangma had questioned the authority of Tynsong to speak to the leadership of the HNLC on behalf of the state government.
“A person (Mukul Sangma) who was in the driver seat when he failed to drive the vehicle whereas other drivers who had taken the seat of him could cross the river bridge. The only thing he can do now is to put the blame on others,” Tynsong said.
He also alleged that Dr Sangma who was the Chief Minister, when former HNLC general secretary, Cheristerfield Thangkhiew spoke to his Home Minister, Roshan Warjri did not want the militant outfit to come overground.
According to the deputy chief minister, Dr Sangma would have known that the former HNLC general secretary had spoken to then Home Minister Roshan Warjri but he did not want HNLC to come overground.
Tynsong said that the opposition leader could have had an ego problem that the HNLC talked to his Home Minister and not to him.
Meanwhile, on allegations that the transfer of officers in the government were linked to illegal mining of coal, Tynsong said that these were normal procedures even as Tynsong said that it seems that there are some officers whom he (Dr Mukul Sangma) is closely connected to.
“May be Dr Mukul has got some special officers. (His) Blue eye boys. He is scared may be one day we are touching them,” the deputy chief minister added.
