Shillong, Sept 23: The North-Eastern Hill University, on Wednesday informed that the tenure of Vice-Chancellor SK Srivastava has been extended, despite protests by the University’s Joint Action Committee.
In a statement issued by the University, it was revealed that the NEHU VC will continue to hold the post for another year or till his successor is appointed.
“The Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of India, it is hereby notified that the President of India, in his capacity as visitor of North-Eastern Hill University, in exercise of powers conferred upon him by the Statute 2(A) (2) of the NEHU Act, 1973 is pleased to permit the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, Professor Sri Krishna Srivastava, to continue in the office of the Vice Chancellor NEHU,” the statement read.
Professor SK Srivastava’s term was set to end today, i.e September 23. He joined the post in September, 2015 for a period of five years.
