Shillong, Jul 27: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) has shut down it’s laboratory for maintenance for the next 48 hours.
NEIGRIHMS Director P Bhattacharryya stated that it was a planned shutdown since the laboratory was functioning continuously for six months and needed a clean up.
It may be noted that the institute is conducting around 600 RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 in a day.
Meanwhile, NEIGRIHMS Medical Superintendent Dr Noor Topno also informed that fresh coronavirus cases from the institute have been recorded.
He said that the positive cases were likely related to one of the contacts from the hospital itself, specifically from the orthopaedics ward.
