Shillong, Mar 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday informed that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given their approval for the e-auction of 2 lakh metric tons of coal out of the total 32 lakh metric tons worth 500 crores.
Speaking to media, the Chief Minister said that the auctioning will be done at an all India level by the Metal Scrap Trading Corporation, an e-commerce company under the government of India.
The auctioning price of the coal will reportedly be according to the rate set by the Coal India Limited. He added that several measures have been taken to ensure a transparent mechanism in place.
“We hope that through these process of auctioning we will be able to obtain the highest price for our coal,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also revealed that temporary deposits have been set up for the transportation of the auctioned coal which will follow strict environmental norms.
“Several checks and balances like the presence of CIL officials and full proof security measures like the QR code will be introduced, hologram, fugitive ink and four copies of challan,” he said.
Meanwhile, the break-up of auction of coal from different states are – East Jaintia Hills – 75,000 MT, West Khasi Hills – 50,000 MT, South West Khasi Hills – 25,000 MT and South Garo Hills – 50,000 MT.
