Nutritious food through ‘kitchen garden’ project

Shillong, Oct 1: In an effort to promote nutrition and consumption of a variety of vegetables and fruits among the rural children the office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Shella Bholganj ICDS Project in collaboration with St. John’s Orphanage Sohra and Borsing Syiem Children’s Home, Mawsmai, had taken the initiative in promoting nutritious and diet diversity food through implementation of the Nutri or  Kitchen Garden project. 

The objective of a Nutri Garden is to plant and promote locally available nutritional fruits and vegetables. 

This concluded the month long observation of RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH (National Nutrition Month) which is celebrated every year in the month of September to create maximum awareness about the problem of malnutrition amongst young children, and women and to ensure health and nutrition for everyone and to further strengthen the efforts of achieving holistic nutrition through community mobilisation and participation.
