Shillong, Oct 23: Meghalaya on Friday recorded more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases, the health authorities informed.
As per the health authorities report, Meghalaya recorded 81 new cases, 111 recovered and one died of the virus.
The deceased has been identified as Jiten Sunar 24 years of Upper Mawprem, Shillong.
He was admitted in Shillong Civil hospital on October 13 was declared to be COVID-19 positive on the same day. Health authorities said that his diagnosis is due to Pneumonia with Covid 19 with chronic infections.
With this the number of active cases is now 1631, the total recovered cases is 7091 and the total number of deaths stands at 79.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of 81 new cases recorded today, 51 were from East Khasi Hills district, 21 from West Garo Hills, 6 from West Jaintia Hills, one each from East Garo hills, East Jaiñtia hills and South Garo hills.
The total number of persons tested for the virus till 2 PM today is 194818 of which 1,86,017 have tested negative.
