Paul: Attempts to insinuate party and me

SHILLONG, Feb 26: United Democratic Party (UDP) working president, Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday said that there were attempts to insinuate the party and him in the recent attack on the vehicle of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), general secretary, Donald V Thabah.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, Lyngdoh pointed out that on that particular night apart from the attack on the vehicle of Thabah, there were two other cases of criminal acts by miscreants.

The UDP working president informed that another vehicle at Lumkshaid was vandalised and there was an attempted burglary at Pdenshong – both under Mawprem locality.

“These are criminal incidents and cannot be linked to the district council polls,” Lyngdoh added.

It may be pointed out that Lyngdoh, himself a former president of the KSU is pitted against another ex-general secretary of the KSU, Auguster Jyrwa who is fighting on a Congress ticket.

He also said that these insinuations were spread by the Congress. “…because it knows that it will lose this elections,” Lyngdoh said.

The UDP working president also blamed the drug menace in Mawprem locality for the various cases.
