SHILLONG, Jun 12: A pregnant woman who earlier this week was detected with COVID-19 has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Health authorities informed that both mother and child are doing fine.
Meghalaya, Director of Health Service, Dr Aman Warr informed that NEIGRIHMS authorities will have to take samples of the new born since they are not sure if the virus can be transmitted to the new born.
“Once we get the test results of the new born we will know whether it can be transmitted at a later stage of pregnancy,” Dr Warr said.
Meanwhile, four more COVID-19 positive patients have been declared recovered on Friday.
With Friday’s recovery, the total number of recovery is 22, while there are 21 active cases in the state as on date.
Health Minister, A. L. Hek informed that till Friday afternoon samples sent for testing is 12513 out of which 12169 came out negative, while the results of 300 tests were awaited.
Meanwhile, a total of 15,058 residents of Meghalaya who were stranded in other parts of the country due to the nation-wide lock-down returned till Friday afternoon.
