SHILLONG, Jul 3: With an objective to defeat former Congress MLA, Martin M Danggo in the Ranikor by-poll political parties may come to an understanding to set up acommon candidate.
On Tuesday, in a meeting held in Rangthong village members and supporters of various political parties met to discuss the need to put up a common candidate to defeat Danggo. The effort to this effect is being initiated by People’s Democratic Front (PDF) chief Pynshngaiñ N Syiem.
Syeim, who is one of the front-runner to be the common candidate also took this opportunity to introduce himself to the electorates of Ranikor constituency.
The members of various political parties and supporters who atended the meet at
Rangthong were from Mawpud, Nongnah, Ngunraw, Sarin, Phudkroh and Balat.
As of now, the names of three candidates – Danggo (NPP), Pius Marweiñ (UDP) and Syiem (PDF) have emerged.
However, leaders of PDF and UDP-Ranikor Circle are now trying to sort out issues so that they can come to a consensus to set up a common candidate.
Syiem informed that the stakeholders will again meet on July 10 to finalise the
