SHILLONG, Apr 13: One polling station under Selsella assembly constituency will go for re-poll on April 15, the Election Commission of India on Saturday stated.
It may be mentioned that on Friday, the State Election department informed that it had recommended re-poll in one polling station under Selsella Assembly constituency — 35 Konarchar after crisscrossing of machines and mismatch of the figures was detected due to ‘human-error’.
“On the basis of your report and also reports of the observers and after taking all material circumstances into account, the Commission hereby directs under Section 58 (2) of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951 that the Poll taken on April 11 at polling station No. 35 – Konachar LP School of 48-Selsella assembly segment of Tura Parliamentary constituency to be void and appoints April 15, Monday as the date (for re-poll),” the Election Commission said.
Polling on that day will be held from 7 am to 4 pm.
Selsella which falls under Tura Parliamentary constituency went for simultaneous Lok Sabha as well as by-poll for the assembly constituency on April 11.
The presence of two sets of machines, one for the Lok Sabha and one for the by-election and there was a human error.
