Reshuffle demand causing a rift in HSPDP?

Shillong, Sept 15: PHE Minister and HSPDP MLA Samlin Malngiang, on Tuesday, vehemently denied that there was an agreement to reshuffle the minister post with his party colleague Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar.

However, he said that if the party high command decided that a reshuffling was needed, then he would abide by the party.

“If the party president gives in writing to the Chief Minister that we need to change the minister then we have to abide by the party,” he told reporters.

In September, the MDA government – which HSPDP is a part of – will be completing two and a half years in office.

The PHE Minister stated that it took him six months to a year to actually learn how to run the department and that he still had several pending projects.

He also mentioned that he had more experience in the political field, which is why his party had decided to offer him the cabinet minister post.

Malngiang was quick to add that there were no differences in the party and said that it was a ‘small issue,’ but added that the Mawkyrwat MLA had requested for the reins of the PHE Department.

“We have only two MLAs so there is no problem with reshuffling of ministers but we have to manage how to discuss in a proper manner,” the PHE Minister said.
