Shillong, Jun 15: Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma has reiterated that the particular containment of rice received from a warehouse in Assam which was meant for Meghalaya is not a part of the NFSA or not a part of the rice that is meant for COVID relief.
“I would like to clarify once again that this not the rice from the Food and Civil Supplies, this not the rice meant for NFSA neither it’s the rice for COVID-19. All those rice for COVID and NFSA have already been received in advance for the entire month of June,” Sangma said.
According to the Chief Minister, Continentals Milkose Ltd which is an approved manufacturing supplier of micro nutrients and energy dense fortified food under the SNP programme has completed the supply for these micro nutrient energy dense fortified food has already been received.
The Chief Minister said that the one lakh bags found in the Assam warehouse is incorrect because there were 1604 MT which only account to 33000 bags.
Principal Secretary, Social Welfare department, Sampath Kumar informed that the government have not yet received any report on the seized rice from Assam police.
“We will be following up. We have also asked for clarification from the particular manufacturer whether there is any fact in that. The factory of the approved manufacturer is situated in Greater NOIDA,” Kumar informed.
