Shillong, Feb 16: The SSA teachers of the State on Tuesday informed that the government has considered their demands to implement salary structure and enhance remuneration to SSA teachers.
Aristotle Rymbai, president of the MSSASA informed that the Director State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya (SEMAM) informed that that the Education department has directed him to prepare a proposal on the demands of the SSA teachers and bring the matter to the Executive Committee of the SEMAM.
“This Executive Committee is headed by the Chief Secretary as the chairman and the vice chairman is the principal secretary of the Education department and the members are the Principal Secretary of the Planning department, Principal Secretary of the Finance department among others,” Rymbai said.
He informed that the Executive Committee of the SEMAM has been constituted as per the notification sent by Ministry of Education on September 12, 2018, and any proposal related to the SSA scheme, whether it be hike in salary of the teachers, or to upgrade the schools and other issues should be routed through it.
“After getting the approval from the Executive Committee of the SEMAM it will be sent to the Ministry of Education for a green signal from the Project Approval Board,” Rymbai said.
He informed that the Executive Committee of the SEMAM will be held in the month of March.
Rymbai also informed that the government has cleared the salaries of the SSA teachers till December 2020.
He said that the current salary structure of the SSA teachers is fixed. Lower Primary tecahers received Rs. 19044 and the Upper Primary teachers receive Rs. 20, 493.
Rymbai said that the association wants the government to hike salaries of SSA teachers at pat to that of regular teachers, in accordance with the revised pay structure under the Meghalaya Services (Revision of Pay) Rules, 2018.
