Shillong, June 9: A 73-year-old person from Ri Bhoi district has tested positive for COVID-19. However, unlike the 25 other active cases in the state, the patient reportedly doesn’t have a travel history.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that the patient is under quarantine in Shillong.
“Person is stable and under supervision,” he tweeted, but later added that the patient has a history of respiratory problems and was admitted in the isolation ward of Robert Hospital, Shillong.
According to official sources, the patient is a resident of Umsamlem Village in Ri Bhoi district.
Since the recovery of 13 patients related to the index patient, this is the first case where the patient had not returned from outside the state.
The total tally of COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya has reached 40, of which 13 have recovered and 1 death was recorded.
