Shillong, June 22: Resignation of Congress MLA from 35 – Ranikor (ST) Assembly constituency Martin M Danggo was accepted on Friday by Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, Dr Donkupar Roy.
Danggo resigned as MLA late last night.
It was informed that Danggo sent his resignation letter at night to the Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira at his official residence.
In his resignation letter, Danggo said “I hereby tender the resignation of my seat in the assembly from Ranikor (ST) assembly constituency with effect from June 21, 2018.”
Resigned as MLA, Danggo also intimated state Congress president of his decision to resign as the primary membership of the party.
“With deep sorrow and regret in my heart, I am also resigning from the primary membership of Congress along with all positions that I am holding in the party with effect from June 21,” Danggo said in his letter to MPCC president, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh.
