SHILLONG, Jul 20: The Meghalaya SSA School Association Central recently met state Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui and discussed two important issues – allocation of funds from state budget for payment of SSA teachers’ pending dues and problems of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Programme for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17.
Aristotle C Rymbai president of Meghalaya SSA School Association informed that the association had submitted a representation to the State Government on June 15 on their two issues.
Rymbai said that the payment of SSA teachers’ pending dues includes payment of three months salary of current academic year for the month of April, May and June and eight months Arrear Salary of Financial year 2016-17.
According to the SSA teacher’s association Rymbui informed them that the delay on the part of the state government to release the salary of current academic year to the SSA teachers is due to non release of adhoc installament to the Meghalaya government by Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Rymbui while expressing his concern over the problems faced by the SSA teachers ever now and then due to irrigular release of salary said that the state government was trying its best to find out permanent solution to the problems.
Rymbui also added the Education department have send a proposal to the Finance department of the state government for allocation of funds from State Budget to SSA-SEMAM for payment of SSA teachers salary for two months and is under process so that the teachers can manage their livelihood till Ministry of Human Resources releases funds to the state.
“The Education Minister also informed, he has wrote to the Chief Minister for allocation of funds for payment of SSA teachers Arrear salary of financial year 2016-17 at the earliest possibility which remained pending for almost 2 years” Rymbui had assured us to solve the matters at the earliest,” Rymbai said.
