Tura, April 2: South West Garo Hills (SWGH) police, on Thursday, booked 5 persons for reportedly violating the nation-wide lockdown called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in view of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
A case has been registered against the 5 persons at Mahendraganj police station. The action was undertaken following reports of continuous lockdown violations.
Superintendent of police, SWGH, Rithuraj Ravi S confirming the report said, “They were booked under section 188/269/270/34 of IPC and further action will follow as per the provisions of the law.”
He further added that the government and administration will deal with violations strongly and register cases against anyone found violating the lockdown. The SP also urged citizens to report the same to the police so that action can be undertaken.
“Curfew and lockdown orders are to be followed strictly,” added Ravi while requesting residents to stay safe at home.
