Two dies of COVID related complications in Meghalaya, toll rises to 133

Shillong, Dec 16: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded two more COVID-19 deaths taking the number of fatalities to 133.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the first death reported of COVID-19 positive was that of Toniak Marbaniang (72) of Laitumkhrah Shillong, East Khasi Hills.

Dr. War informed that the he expired at home on December 15 at 10:30 am.

The second death recorded was that of Sufola Das (47), Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills.

She was brought dead to Tura Civil Hospital on December 14 at 9:25 pm.

Dr. War said, the patient was diagnosed with history of type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension with COVID-19.

The Director of Health Services, also informed that the State registered 65 new cases and 66 new recoveries were recorded.

Dr. War said that the fresh COVID-19 cases reported on Wednesday includes 57 from East Khasi Hills district, six in West Jaintia Hills district and one each in West Garo Hills district and South West Garo Hills district.

He informed that of the 66 recovered cases – 29 are from East Khasi Hills (armed/paramilitary forces – three and others 26), West Jaintia Hills – 12, West Garo Hills – 10, Ri-Bhoi – 10, East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills – two each and East Jaintia Hills – one.
