Shillong, Mar 19: Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong on Friday told the Meghalaya Assembly that the High Level Committee (HLC) is in the final stage to submit its report to the government on the Them Iew Mawlong issue.
Tynsong informed the House that the report has been delayed due to various factors.
It may be mentioned that on June 4, 2018, the HLC was constituted to study into the relocation of residents of Them Iew Mawlong.
Replying to a supplementary question asked by Congress legislator from West Shillong, Mohendro Rapsang, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed the House that the HLC in its various sittings found out that many things needs correction.
Tynsong said that the agreement between the Shillong Municipal Board and the Syiem of Hima Mylliem over the land in Them Iew Mawlong was vague.
“On the basis of that we have to look into the issue of ownership,” the Deputy Chief Minister added.
He also informed the House that when in 2019, Shillong was selected by the government of India for the smart city project the State government had plans to develop number of places in the city.
Tynsong informed that House that apart from other places in Shillong, there is a consideration to redevelop Them Iew Mawlong.
Tynsong said that there is a need to have detailed discussion with the Syiem of Hima Mylliem and the KHADC and therefore these deliberations are taking time.
