SHILLONG, Feb 25: The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Monday slammed the Congress party over it’s alleged double standard over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
According to UDP vice- president Allantry F Dkhar while in Assam the party’s leaders have vowed to oppose a proposed ordinance on the Bill, on the other hand the manifesto committee of the AICC is planning to include the citizenship bill for the Lok Sabha polls.
Dkhar also said that there is a division in the Congress over the Bill with its MP from Silchar Sushmita Dev in it’s favour.
The UDP leader also expressed surprise over the citizenship bill taking precedence over other issues during the campaign to the district council elections.
“The Congress’ aim is to side track its misgivings and to woo electorates by misinformation by alleging that all regional parties are part of the BJP,” Dkhar said.
