Shillong, June 2: Meghalaya Police informed that the vehicle intercepted by KSU members of Umsning Circle was a transit vehicle on its way to Silchar, Assam and had only stopped at Umran Petrol Pump to refuel.
G.K Ïangrai, Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) said that Ri-Bhoi Police received an information late night on Monday, regarding detection of a Force Traveller bearing registration number UP-11-AT-8425, with occupants from Uttar Pradesh, by members of the KSU Umsning Circle at Umran Petrol Pump.
“Police Officials of Umran Out-Post immediately visited the spot to ascertain the information, and upon inquiry it was established that the said vehicle which was on its way to Silchar, Assam had only halted at the petrol pump for refuelling purpose, and it was during this time that members of the Unit saw these people and intercepted them,” he stated.
Ïangrai added that the vehicle was a Transit Vehicle and screenings as well as documentation were done by the District Administration at the Temperature Screening Centre in 13th Mile.
“It is also informed that entry of individuals or vehicles into the State without any valid pass or documents is prohibited, and screening of individuals or vehicles are being done in the designated screening centres,” he stressed.
